unCivil: The Civil War Comedy
If you're like me, then you know that Abraham Lincoln and the theatre just go together, right? I mean, both are great by themselves, but together... that's when the bullets, brains, and laughter really start flying.
That's why those adorable scamps, Rick Kunzi, Adam Barnosky, and I teamed up to serve you, the people, the hottest slice of musical comedy since Stanislavski's production of The Seagull. Growning up in the shadow of metro Detroit's Henry Ford Museum, we were inspired by the sights and stains of the infamous Lincoln Assassination Chair, forever reminding us that the Great Man was definitely seated when he got his head blown to pieces. It has since haunted the recesses of our nightmares, and inspired us to put such grossness onstage for the rest of the world to witness.
That's right, you're getting a mind-numbing Lincoln who has somehow stumbled his way into the Presidency. You've got his foil, the lotion-slinging egoist, General George McClellan. You've got the boozy-but-lovable General Ulysses S. Grant, and he's guying around with the physical manifestation of a federally-sanctioned batshit id, General William Tecumseh Sherman. And all of 'em are out to leave a blustering General Robert E. Lee's cake out in the rain, no matter the cost - be it dollars, lives, or mermaids.
Yes, unCivil is all that and so much more - singing, dancing, carousing, dress-wearing... In fact, it was so much more, that the New York Musical Theatre Festival had to give us a bunch of awards (as Bayonets Of Angst) just to shut everybody up about it! Yeah, like that'll work - we're talking Best Book, Best Ensemble, and 2 Best Featured Performances here, people - this is some serious goddamn business.
Forgive me - not enough gravy for you? Well, allow me to pass you this tureen of hot Adirondack Theatre Festival, where reviews proclaimed the 2015 performances of unCivil to be nothing short of "a triumph."
